Yerevan/Mediamax/. The inauguration ceremony of the new Mayor of Yerevan, Taron Margaryan, took place today.

The new Mayor took an oath to serve for the welfare of Yerevan and its citizens, Mediamax reports.

 

“Assuming the responsibilities of the Mayor of Yerevan, in fulfilling my duties I swear to be guided by the Constitution and the laws of Armenia, by the decisions of the Council of Elders of Yerevan,” Taron Margaryan said.

 

He said he will protect the rights and the interests of the people of Yerevan and promote noble initiatives.

 

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, members of the government and other officials attended the oath ceremony.

 

In his speech, Serzh Sargsyan congratulated Taron Margaryan, wishing him success and consistency as well as expressed gratitude to his predecessor Karen Karapetyan who “has left a visible trace in the history of the city during his short tenure as Mayor.”

 

Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence that Taron Margaryan is ready to fulfill his duties as a Mayor of Yerevan and make the Armenian capital more comfortable and attractive for the people of Yerevan and the guests of the city.
