Yerevan /Mediamax/. Spokeswoman for Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan has commented on Azerbaijani FM’s remark that he “established mutual understanding with the Foreign Minister of Armenia in Milan”.

According to Anna Naghdalyan, the agreements that foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia reached at the meeting on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan were published by the Armenian MFA.

In particular, the statement released following the meeting indicated that “Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mammadyarov agreed to organize more meetings in the future in line with the established dynamics”.

“They also agreed on a joint statement with heads of the delegations of OSCE Minsk Group co-chair states. Statements in that format have been impossible to issue for a long time, but the sides were able to agree on the text in Milan.

Acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan touched on the statement in his speech at the OSCE Ministerial Council on December 6 (also released by the Armenian MFA), emphasizing how encouraging it was to see Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs agree on the text and approve a pentalateral statement after a meeting mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan added that the joint statement reaffirms the importance of translating the mutual understanding, reached in Dushanbe, into actions aimed at reducing tension in the [Karabakh] conflict zone and preparing the peoples for peace,” said Anna Naghdalyan.

The MFA Spokeswoman underlined that “Absence of confrontational and hostile tone in public statements regarding such complicated issues is a good thing”.
