Yerevan /Mediamax/. The first passenger train of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Railway has arrived in Georgia.
This was a test drive of the train, which is owned by Azerbaijan Railways.
BTK Railway was built on the basis of the trilateral agreement that Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey signed in 2007. The project was launched in 2008 and the opening ceremony of the freight traffic took place in October 2017.
Regular passenger traffic on BTK is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2019.
