Armenian diocese of Australia and New Zealand has new parish

Yerevan /Mediamax/. On February 3, the opening ceremony of the newly-constructed parish of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Australia and New Zealand took place in Sydney.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, who is on visit to Australia. Having conducted a liturgy at Armenian Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection, the Supreme Patriarch led the opening of commemorative plaque and the building of the parish, accompanied by Diosese Leader and the Chairman of the Diocesan Council.

Karekin II noted that the newly-opened parish will serve as a strengthening force for the Australian Armenian community by uniting them around the church.

“It’s our common vision to unite especially young Armenians and connect them to their roots, engaging them in Armenian spiritual and national lives. The diocese, as any achievement of our national life, is also an example of kind deed for new generation to continue the faith of Australian Armenian community, its devout course and traditions”.
