Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the launch of operative trainings for senior officers of Armenian Armed Forces today.

According to Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, trainings will be concluded with command staff’s strategic exercise, where current regional military-political situation will be taken into account.

“The importance of current training is specified first of all by the fact that it’s held in the phase of constitutional changes within our country and governmental system, and foreign developments that affect Armenian security environment,” said Serzh Sargsyan.

He touched upon the results of the 2nd Strategic Defense Review (SDR) completed in late 2015, considering it appropriate, according to the plan, to inform traning participants of basic principles and approaches of Armed Forces developmement for the next 5 years.

“At the end of the year, Armenian Armed Forces received a qualitatively new equipment and guarantees of future supplies. It’s even more important that you developed a new concept of “Deterring armed confrontation”. I believe it will be useful to present Defense Ministry’s approach to the military-political situatuon in the region and functions aimed at ensuring our country’s safety during the traning,” said the President.
