Yerevan/Mediamax/. Yezidis living in Armenia call upon the international structures to take practical steps to stop the violence against Yezidi population in north Iraq and render humanitarian aid to the evicted people.

Head of “Midia- Shingal” national Yezidi union NGO Amo Sharoyan told journalists today that the international community should adequately respond to Yezidi genocide, Mediamax reports.

“We collect facts to be able to prove in future that what’s going on is a Yezidi genocide. Unfortunately, the humanity continues witnessing genocides in the 21st century. According to our data, already around 10 thousand Yezidis were killed and 500 thousand migrated as a result of the violence used against the people living in Shangal marz in north Iraq.

According to Amo Sharoyan, a Yezidi rescue committee was set up in the religious center of Yezidis, Lalishanmuran (40km away from town of Mosul), which coordinates the humanitarian aid sent from various countries to the Yezidi population.

According to the head of the NGO, right organization of the humanitarian aid on the spots is the main issue for now.

Amo Sharoyan welcomed readiness of the leadership of Republic of Artsakh to receive and give asylums to Iraqi Yezidis.

“I’m happy to note that having its own issues, Artsakh made such a proposal. It comes to prove once more that Arstakh is a formed state which can receive Yezidis which are in tragic circumstances”, he said.

Mediamax recalls that the Armenian leadership condemned the mass violence against Yezidi population in the north Iraq.

The Armenian President gave assignments to the Foreign Ministry and  heads of diplomatic missions to double their efforts toward handling the issue in the international arena on a proper level.

On August 18, President Sargsyan discussed with the Armenian Prime Minister issues related to increasing the initial volumes of the humanitarian aid provided by Armenia.
