Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan chaired a session of National Security Council today.

“Azerbaijani Armed Forces conducted a provocation on the entire contact line with NKR. These are the most large-scale military operations after the ceasefire of 1994, which Azerbaijani Armed Forces performed and are still performing. Timely and masterful actions of NKR Defense Army allowed to not only take the situation under control, but also cause the rival substantial losses.

Furthermore, the rival used air forces, all types of artillery and tanks during the operations. The rival suffered heavy losses in air forces, infantry and tanks. We have casualties too: 18 dead and around 35 wounded as of now,” said Armenian President.

Serzh Sargsyan said that he met U.S. Vice President Biden and Secretary of State Kerry in the USA.

“I urged them to warn Azerbaijan against truce violations, but as you see, events with unknown consequences took place mere hours after that meeting. Provocations continue at this moment; there’s certain tension in North and South, but as I said, NKR Armed Forces control the situation.

Armenian Armed Forces follow the prepared plan, and I believe several ministries should shift to more intense work without any rush or tension according to our plans. Measures have been taken to ensure safety of border area residents. I believe that those measures are sufficient, but I am convinced and I suggest that we should be one step ahead,” said the President.
