Yerevan /Mediamax/. UWC Dilijan Annual Summer School organized by IDeA Foundation completed works in Dilijan.

Young people aged 16-18 from Italy, Spain, Sweden, Israel, Switzerland, Canada, Norway, Turkey, Armenia, NKR and other countries took part in the summer school, which lasted over two weeks.

“One of the goals we had set for the summer school was to find out how we can create a more stimulating youth culture in Dilijan blending together the practice of young people from various countries”, Director of UWC Dilijan College John Puddefoot told Mediamax.

Chairman of Board of Directors, UWC Dilijan College Veronika Zonabend told Mediamax that Dilijan will change after locals are ready for changes.

“Local children also took part in the summer school held for already the second time. This year we had two participants form Turkey, and we had also invited two participants from Artsakh since the camp aims to ensure maximum integration”, said Veronika Zonabend.

She added that in the last few days of the summer school 15 more young girls and boys from Artsakh also joined the participants.

Summer School Coordinator Adrian Boelle said that UWC Dilijan Summer School focused on issues related to community development.

“UWC colleges aim to not only provide with academic knowledge but also to thoroughly develop the participant’s personality. We attempted to find out how to make Dilijan appear attractive and interesting for the youth. Unfortunately, presently the city lacks any special entertainments for the youth. In the second half the summer school participants worked in special circles – music, art, sports and cinema, which might provide an incentive for the community’s development”, said Adrian Boelle.
