Armenia and EU discuss visa facilitation process

Yerevan /Mediamax/. The third session of the Joint Committee for management of the Armenia-EU Visa Facilitation Agreement took place in Yerevan.

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Karen Nazaryan stressed the necessity of finding ways to control migrant flow and security challenges in the EU, and at the same time to uphold the joint obligation of mobility and contacts between people.

 

According to Deputy Minister, Armenia approached realization of Armenia-EU Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements with great responsibility. He expressed his hope that successful realization of these agreements will launch the dialogue on Armenia-EU Visa liberalization, which is established by Riga Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership Summit.

 

Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski represented the EU at the session.The EU party noticed that higher number of Armenian citizens have applied for the EU member states visas in recent years.

 

Along with the session of the Joint Committee for management of the Armenia-EU Visa Facilitation Agreement, the session of the Joint Committee for management of the EU-Armenia Readmission Agreement (on persons residing without authorisation) took place. --0--

 

The inaugural sessions of Committees for management of Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements took place in September 2014, Yerevan.
