Yerevan /Mediamax/. "The values of Armenian Apostolic Church hold key significance for our people and the identity of our country,” Acting Prime of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at the meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
While visiting Karekin II in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Pashinyan said:
“This awareness has always guided us and will continue to do so. You have mentioned that the elections in Armenia should pass in a peaceful atmosphere. Curiously, there is a perception in Armenia that elections and peace are antonyms, which is a result of circumstances we all know. However, I would like to assure you that there is no other way but peaceful for elections to be held in Armenia.”
He stressed that the Mother See is special for any follower of Armenian Apostolic Church, including Pashinyan himself and his family.
“It is great to visit the Mother See occasionally. This is also the best place to reflect on the past and think of the future,” noted the acting PM.
Touching on the upcoming early parliamentary elections, due to be held on December 9, Karekin II said there is certainty and optimism that the elections will take place in a peaceful, calm, harmonious atmosphere.
